General Description

Macalogic is seeking an experienced Data Modeler to work at Marine Corp Base (MCB) Quantico, Quantico, Virginia to provide data modeling and data architecture support. The candidate will perform in a lead Data Base Modeling (DBM) role providing support to system modernization efforts. This will include performing database requirements identification and development, developing data dictionaries, developing conceptual, logical and physical database models, and developing plans for legacy data clean-up, data transformation, and data conversion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Iteratively refine the existing enterprise conceptual data model,
  • Support and facilitate workshops and interviews to elicit information needed to develop logical and physical data models,
  • Develop the enterprise logical data model, including entities, attributes, and relationships,
  • Develop the enterprise physical data model, including tables, columns, and relationships,
  • Develop data dictionaries with agreed-upon definitions for all entities and attributes,
  • Map logical/physical attributes/columns to existing IT systems, identify gaps where data in existing systems do not exist to support the Target Data Architecture (TDA), and identify transformations where data must be altered from the source systems to be accommodated in the TDA.,
  • Architect and develop an overall master data hub for data elements that are used by multiple IT systems.

Dedicated senior project manager responsible for the technical execution of the application migration projects from existing Government hosting facilities to Amazon’s AWS or Microsoft Azure. The project manager will be the focal point for project execution, all technical client communication, and coordination across all stakeholder groups inclusive of: Government PMOs, functional user communities, DISA (current hosting environment), AWS or Azure (target hosting environment), multiple test organizations, the Government Capabilities Integration Environment (CIE), and multiple security groups.

General Description

These projects involve the migration of legacy business system applications from existing Government hosting environments to Amazon’s AWS or Microsoft Azure. This will include the development of all relevant project plans, the implementation of a structured program management and systems engineering process, the implementation of Agile software development principles, and the coordination and collaborate implementation of all activities across stakeholder groups such as Government PMOs, functional user communities, DISA (current hosting environment), AWS or Azure (target hosting environment), multiple test organizations, the Government Capabilities Integration Environment (CIE), and multiple security groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification of requirements, developing software functional and technical designs, performing application modifications (i.e., “re-factoring”), performing unit and system testing, and responding to software problem reports with problem root cause identification, software updates, regression testing, and re-implementation.

Specialized Knowledge
  • Experience with performing application modifications using COBOL, C++, Java, HTML, PL/SQL, and EJBs,
  • Experience with AWS/Azure application development environment,
  • Tomcat Enterprise Edition, both native and containerized

Qualifications

This includes the use of the DISA Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), S3, SQS, ActiveMQ Containers using Beanstalk, JMS Messaging, elastic cashing etc. In addition, the candidate will negotiate data exchange protocols with data exchange partners and DISA, perform MOA updates, and coordinate these changes with the system PMO and all trading partner systems.

The candidate will interface with user communities to understand their security needs and implement procedures to accommodate them. In addition, they ensure that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security. The candidate may require familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures. Also, the candidate will conduct accurate evaluation of the level of security required and will require understanding of firewall theory and configuration and the Government Risk Management Framework (RMF). Lastly, the candidate must be able to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate issues to management.
