Macalogic accepted into the Department of Air Force’s Mentor-Protégé Program

Macalogic, an IT technical, program management, and business consulting company located in Beavercreek, has been accepted into the Department of Air Force’s Mentor-Protégé Program as a Protégé to System Studies & Simulation, Inc., (S3). The program pairs small businesses looking to strengthen their competitive posture to provide innovative solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) by partnering with large businesses (mentors), who provide training and other developmental assistance to position small businesses that will assist in developing their qualifications and ability to compete for prime contract and subcontract awards.

Mentors for the AF MPP program must be able to provide developmental assistance and technology transfer to their protégés and actively perform at least one approved subcontracting plan with the Department of Defense or another Federal agency. The mentor must also be eligible to receive federal contract awards. Mentors are directly reimbursed for services provided to protégés.

Qualifying as a Protégé

Protégés must be Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs), Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs), Historically Underutilized Business Zone Small Businesses (HUBZone SBs), or Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs), or a small business concern that currently provides goods or services in the private sector that are critical to enhancing the capabilities of the defense supplier base and fulfilling critical Department of Defense needs.

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) Mentor Protégé Program (DAF MPP) assists eligible Small Businesses (protégés) in developing their qualifications and ability to compete for prime contract and subcontract awards by partnering with large businesses (mentors) who provide developmental assistance under individual, project-based agreements to help meet the DAF, DoD and other federal organizations’ missions. A broad range of industries are represented in the DAF MPP, including Manufacturing, Information Technology Systems, Engineering/Consulting Services, Environmental Services, and Cyber Security.

The Goal of the Program

The goal of the DAF MPP is to increase the participation of Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs), Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs), Historically Underutilized Business Zone Small Businesses (HUBZone SBs), and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) in obtaining and servicing government contracts. The program strives to increase the participation of small businesses in the Defense Industrial Base to increase the overall prime and subcontract industrial business base to form long-term business and stable relationships for the Department of  Air Force and the Department of Defense.
